STATEMENT FROM THE CANNABIS BUSINESS ASSOCIATION OF ILLINOIS

The Cannabis Business Association of Illinois supports the additional steps announced Monday by the Pritzker Administration to ensure a more equitable and fair process in awarding the first round of adult-use licenses.

CBAI and its members have been strong supporters of a robust and diverse cannabis industry that keeps social equity at the forefront. Our members have incubated, mentored and supported social equity applicants to be competitive in the marketplace, and we’re encouraged by these additional steps to bring more diversity to the industry.

We remain committed to working with stakeholders on a review to better understand the process used to award licenses and establish the lottery. We support the Administration’s efforts to conduct the disparity study of the industry and help create the roadmap for greater diversity, equity and inclusion in the program.

STATEMENT FROM THE CANNABIS BUSINESS ASSOCIATION OF ILLINOIS

The Cannabis Business Association of Illinois remains committed to diversifying the cannabis industry and ensuring that the Social Equity component of the cannabis program is successful. We look forward to reviewing and better understanding the process the State of Illinois used to award licenses and establish the lottery.

Our members have spent the past year working with and incubating social equity applicants in the spirit of the law. The Association’s Minority Business Associate Membership, Social Equity committee, and all of our members’ individual diversity and inclusion programs are designed to support diverse organizations and bring them into the industry. Our Association will continue to support diverse businesses, and we stand ready to offer our expertise and support as we work to grow and diversify the industry.
